Finger crochet

So, I found the video of the finger crocheting and had to give it a go. The benefits of doing a blanket this way are that it works up VERY quickly and it makes a very thick and warm blanket. After I'd finished mine I've decided that it's just not for me, it doesn't look bad, but it's definitely no where near as neat as I'd like it to be. Anyway I'll put some pictures up.

As you can see from the above picture, it was going slightly wonky at the end. I'm not really sure what I was doing wrong as the first half is pretty straight!

Well, it was a good experiment but I think I'll stick to using a hook from now on!

Christmassy!

I am finally allowing myself to feel CHRISTMASSY after a hellish few weeks full of deadlines and several thousand word limits. Boo! However, after handing everything into university yesterday I am able to relax and look forward to the festive season.

I have been so excited for the coming of thursday of this week, I'm going out for a christmas curry party tonight, going to York tomorrow (well we're actually just going for Cath Kidston and Betty's!) and then christmas tree decorating when we get back!

And just to start it all off nicely I woke up to this...

Which of course is no where near as impressive as last years offering...

As I am now 'free' from university work for a little bit, as soon as I got home yesterday I finally started to catch up on lost AND more importantly, crocheting. In fact I found this inspiring video and just had to give it a go!

At first I thought it would look a bit naff but after a few rows I really got into it. It doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as normal crocheting but it grows so quickly! I'll get round to taking a photo soon! xx

Indulgent Ripple

I just wanted to stop by and share my Indulgent Ripple. I started this a while ago but as other projects have been getting in the way (mostly christmas presents and the boyfriend's blanket) I haven't been able to get on with it as much as I'd like. It is therefore known as the indulgent ripple as I LOVE doing it but never get the chance, just slipping in a few rows here and there.

Of course I started it as part of the ripple along set up by Little Tin Bird and Attic24, and I've enjoyed looking at everyone elses on Flickr

Hello

After spending a few months reading around the wonderful crochet and homemade goodness of blogland I've decided to make one myself. The main reason being that I like the idea of creating a record of the things I've been doing and most of all making, as I do tend to forget, especially if it's something I've been making for someone else. I intend this to be sort of like a diary but mainly made up of pictures. I must admit that I'm pretty awful at picture taking but this should give me plenty of practise. Anyway....

This is the first thing I would like to share. It's made from King Cole Merino DK in various colours that I'm not sure of off the top of my head. I really like this yarn but I think it will have to only be used for 'special occasions' from now on as my measly student budget is just not up to it :).

And this is the back. I think that it shouldn't be called 'the back' as I quite like it from both sides. Almost like two cushions in one.

Unfortunately I'm planning on selling this along with others at the local victorian christmas market (I've been saved a space on my Grandad's wood turning stall) as I initially didn't like it, but it's growing on me now.

And these are the rest that I've been working on.

I apologise for the not so good picture quality which is due to bad lighting from the terrible weather this last week +  broken camera which resulted in emergency use of phone.
